Welcome Helen Silver, New Board Member

Helen D. Silver, attorney with the Clean Air Task Force, Inc., and resident of Boston's Jamaica Plain, has joined the Green Streets Board of Directors, as of July 1, 2011. In large and small ways, she supports our mission, and looks forward to making a meaningful contribution. We look forward to working with her.

Helen Silver 2 “Combating climate change and thus preventing – or at least reducing – the serious harm that it presents to both the environment and to public health is a core mission for me both personally and professionally. I have devoted my professional career as a lawyer to the protection of the environment in general and to combating climate change in particular. I have worked in various areas of environmental law at the state, federal, and international levels in private practice, and currently focus exclusively on climate change at the federal level. In addition, I attempt to live my everyday life so as to have the smallest environmental footprint as possible. For instance, walking, biking, and taking the train are my primary modes of transportation.

I support the mission of Green Streets in combating climate change and creating safer communities and a healthier citizenry.

As a Board member, I look forward to bringing my perspective and contacts to bear in

  • helping Green Streets further develop its corporate presence and corporate sponsorships

  • receiving endorsements by other nonprofit environmental organizations,

  • obtaining appropriate legal expertise,

  • further developing the Green Streets Board, and

  • spreading the word about Walk/Ride Days in Boston and, in particular, in my Boston neighborhood of Jamaica Plain.”
