Boston, MA

Home to the oldest subway in North America, Boston has deep roots in active, sustainable transportation.  Nicknamed "The Walking City," Boston hosts more pedestrian commuters than do other comparably populated cities.  Boston is also making strides to join the ranks of other world class biking cities thanks in part by efforts from Mayor Menino and his "Car is no longer king" policy.  A number of allied organizations to Green Streets have also been implemental in improving the streets for cyclists: Bikes not Bombs, Boston Cyclist Union, Livable Streets, CommonWheels Bike Co-Op.

As nearly a third of people who work in Boston commute by public transit, many companies were eager to join our inaugural Walk Ride Day Corporate Challenge.  These competing organizations include The Community Builders, Inc., Unitarian Universalists, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Northeastern, and Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

You can receive rewards and discounts on Walk/Ride Day by visiting our retail partners. See who is participating in Boston.
