American Heart Association
The Greater Boston Division of the American Heart Association is supporting community-based work that encourages physical activity, addresses childhood obesity, and improves the heart health of communities.
The Association saw the great links between their mission and the Green Streets Initiative which promotes healthy commuting for students who are encouraged to walk and bike to school on the last Friday of every month. Green Streets also educates the public on healthy and green transportation choices, like transit use and walking school buses, and it hosts events to help communities celebrate their healthy commuting choice and the community connectivity that Walk/Ride Day brings. The grant was accepted by the Green Streets Initiative and is being used to to support Walk/Ride Day events and activities in Boston Public Schools.
