Check-in Questions of the Month
Have you ever been in touch with your local, state, or national politicians about transportation issues?
If so, what was the nature of the issue? (cycling, transit, pedestrian, etc.)
September Walk/Ride Day Theme: City Transit
The majority of Green Streets community members rely on urban transit to commute to work. Just over one-third of us are subway riders, 17% take the commuter rail, and 16% ride a bus. While we know our current transit system is in need of expansion and repair, we should take advantage of this Walk/Ride Day to reflect on the benefits we reap from our existing transit network.
Did you know that public transportation compared to driving:
makes us all safer and that
transit riders tend to be more trusting of others compared to drivers?
From a recent Mobility Lab article: "instead of a trying experience, traveling by public transportation should be thought of as an opportunity to appreciate one of the greatest joys of living in a city, being in the company of other people."
Take a look at our new Participant Voices page for inspiring city transit stories and more!
